The 'promising' but 'controversial' results from Man Utd's financial reports

Chelsea legend Terry 'frustrated' at being overlooked for Blues caretaker role

Chelsea legend John Terry says he is "frustrated" at missing out on the caretaker role and "should have been a part" of the interim coaching team after Enzo Maresca's sacking.

The ex-Blues captain was not among the staff appointed in temporary charge in January, as U21s coach Calum McFarlane was handed the caretaker job following Maresca's exit.

McFarlane oversaw a draw at Manchester City and a defeat at Fulham before Liam Rosenior took permanent charge.

But Terry, who works part-time at Chelsea with the U18s and U21s sides, was not involved for the two games.

Asked by the Golf Life YouTube channel if he was annoyed at not being a part of the interim setup, Terry responded: "Not annoyed, probably more frustrated, because I was certainly part of that 21s group that went over.

"So even if I didn't take the team Calum took the team, did really well, got a result out of the game.

"I feel like I should have been part of that.

"People have got to make decisions. I love it when people make decisions, and then they go 'yes' or 'no'. Clearly, the ownership, or whoever made those decisions - the sporting directors - have gone 'no' not to include me, for whatever reason. I don't know why."

BBC Sport claim part of Terry's frustration comes from having completed all his coaching qualifications.

The 45-year-old has previously been an assistant head coach to Dean Smith during spells at Aston Villa and Leicester.

Terry currently manages an indoor six-a-side team in the UK Baller League, called the 26ers.

'Onana wants to re-establish himself as Man Utd No. 1'

Andre Onana wants to re-establish himself as Manchester United's No. 1 goalkeeper when he returns from his loan at Trabzonspor, according to The Guardian

Onana departed Old Trafford on a temporary move in September after United brought in Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for an initial 18m.

United's new goalkeeper has restored calm between the sticks after an erratic two years with Onana, whose loan in Turkey concludes at the end of the season.

The Cameroon international has a contract with United until the summer of 2028.

Papers: Man Utd join chase for Gibbs-White

West Brom sack Ramsay after just eight games

West Brom have sacked head coach Eric Ramsay.

He lasted just eight games at The Hawthorns after replacing Ryan Mason in January.

He drew four and lost four games, including Tuesday night's 1-1 draw against Charlton, and leaves the Midlands without a win, having also been knocked out of the FA Cup.

His assistant, Dennis Lawrence has left the club, with first team coach James Morrison stepping in on an interim basis.

John-Jules to miss rest of season - but signs Killie extension

Kilmarnock have revealed that Tyreece John-Jules is out for the remainder of this season after sustaining a substantial quad injury.

The bad news for Killie supporters was offset slightly, however, as the club simultaneously announced that the striker has signed a one-year contract extension until the summer of 2027.

John-Jules initially arrived in Ayrshire as a free agent in October on a short-term deal until January and then agreed a contract until the end of this season.

Killie announced on Tuesday: After being forced off in his last appearance, investigation has shown Tyreece to have a substantial quad injury.

While he will miss the remainder of the season, we are pleased to confirm that he is expected to be back in time for the new season.

Tyreece is also an influential character in the dressing room and will continue to play an important role around the club in the coming months.

We look forward to seeing him back on the pitch and ready to go for the new campaign.

Mace: Why Everton is the perfect place for me after Man City struggles

"When I came to Everton, I felt so welcomed, so valued and to this day, it's definitely the best decision I ever made in my career."

It is safe to say Ruby Mace is not just thriving at Everton, she is excelling. Her move to Goodison Park from Leicester in the summer was a club-record signing.

Polite and humble, that does not affect the 22-year-old's thinking - "I just wanted to go somewhere I felt wanted," she said - but the Toffees are certainly getting their money's worth.

It is at both Leicester, where she spent time on loan before making a permanent move, and Everton over the last few years where Mace has made a name for herself.

But it was a tough spell at Manchester City - where she signed her first professional deal on her 18th birthday in 2021 - that taught her just what she wanted from a football club.

Palace expect Sporting's Diomande to be out of reach this summer

Latest from Your Site News' James Savundra:

Crystal Palace expect Sporting's Ousmane Diomande to be out of reach in the summer when they will reignite their attempts to replace Marc Guehi.

Palace sold Guehi to Manchester City in January but were unable to fill the void he left before the transfer window closed.

That will be Palace's priority in the summer, though Diomande is no longer seen as a realistic option.

The Ivory Coast international was previously viewed by Palace as a potentially obtainable candidate to succeed their former captain Guehi.

But he extended his contract with Sporting last month until 2030, with the new deal including an 80 million (69.8m) release clause.

The Eagles also enquired about Club Brugges Joel Ordonez, Toulouses Charlie Cresswell and Lyons Ruben Kluivert, amongst others, in the winter.

It proved too difficult for Palace to sign the right option during the mid-season window for what they considered a fair market price.

However, there is confidence that their targets will be more affordable in the summer.

Palace currently have Maxence LacroixChris RichardsChadi Riad and Jaydee Canvot as their senior centre-back options.

Midfielder Jefferson Lerma has deputised as a centre-back at times during Oliver Glasner's tenure.

The outgoing Palace head coach has set his side up almost exclusively with three central defenders, requiring sufficient depth.

It remains to be seen what system the incoming manager will opt to use, though adding another centre-back remains a transfer focus for the Selhurst Park club.

How many English teams will be in Champions League 26/27?

The Premier League is in an extremely strong position to have its top five clubs playing in the Champions League next season.

The top four sides qualify for the Champions League but an extra two places are awarded to clubs from countries whose teams have the best record in European club competitions this season.

England is currently at the top of UEFAs co-efficient table and all its nine clubs are still in the three European competitions.

Englands co-efficient at the moment is 21.513, 4.913 points ahead of third-placed Portugal who are on 16.600.

The co-efficient is calculated by awarding points and dividing the total by the number of clubs each country has playing in Europe.

Each win is worth two points, there is one point for a draw and there are bonus points for progressing in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

England were one of two countries who were awarded an extra slot last season, with Newcastle United getting a place in the Champions League after finishing fifth in the Premier League.

If English sides continue to do well in Europe this season, fifth place in the Premier League is almost certain to be rewarded with a Champions League place, which could be good news for clubs such as Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Qualifying for the Champions League in its new expanded format means English clubs can expect to make tens of millions of pounds from playing in the 36-team league phase.

According to financial blogger Swiss Ramble, Manchester City and Liverpool have made 84m each so far this season, Arsenal 83m, Chelsea 80m and Spurs 73m.
